Watt/Swap

Use Watt/Swap credit to trade for gear listed by other members. If a piece of gear costs more than you have in Watt/Swap credit, you can either add more gear or pay the difference.

Ride

Once the Watt/Swap is complete, the gear is yours and mailed directly to you. You can use it immediately and for as long as you want. And if you don't like it, you can Watt/Swap it again!

Spend less. trade & Ride more.

We always need more gear, but cycling is already expensive enough.

Supported by Membership

For a yearly membership fee of $150, you can now turn the gear you don't need into the gear that you do.

Access more value

Unlike traditional retail, Watt/Swap doesn't markup gear to make money. So our members get more value per Watt/Swap.

FAQ

What gear can I Watt/Swap?

+

Gear must be rideable and not broken. Any cosmetic blemishes are OK, but should be identified in the posting. Right now Watt/Swap can’t accept fluids like chain lube, but anything from whole bikes, frames, handlebars, shoes and clothing can be swapped. Wearables like clothing should be cleaned prior to sharing. Consumables like tires should have at least 200 miles worth of riding left in them.

Am I Watt/Swapping with just one community member?

+

No, this is a community swap. So one community member could get the gear you posted, while you get the gear from another community member.

How many Watt/Swaps can I make?

+

There is no limit to how many swaps you can make as long as you are continually sharing gear to earn WattSwap credit.

Can I just pay for the gear?

+

No, Watt/Swap is not a traditional retailer. You must bring some gear to the community in order to get gear from the Watt/Swap community.

What if the gear isn't as advertised?

+

If the gear isn’t functional, then you can return it to WattSwap and get your credit back. If the gear isn’t to your liking, just post it back on Watt/Swap.

Who gets the cash if I have to make up the difference in a Watt/Swap?

+

In the event that a Watt/Swap member doesn’t have enough credit to get a piece of gear, they can make up the difference in cash. That cash goes to the original gear owner, minus a 10% fee (capped at $50.) The original owner can use that cash to purchase gear, or withdraw it.

When do I pay the Watt/Swap membership fee?

+

Watt/Swap is free to share and browse. Once you participate in a swap - either someone takes your gear or you take someone’s gear - Watt/Swap then charges you the membership fee.
